How to configure taxes and delivery fees

If you’re set up with WM Orders, you can configure the taxes you need to collect, and if you’re a delivery service, you can also configure delivery fees.

NOTE: If you have an integration with your point-of-sale (POS) system, where and how you configure your taxes will depend on your POS. Contact your POS provider and email us at [email protected] if you want to loop in Weedmaps support. If you’re sure you need to configure taxes in Weedmaps or you don’t have a POS integration, follow the steps below to configure your taxes.

SETTING UP TAXES

To set your taxes up this way, you’d follow these steps:

  1. Log into WM Admin, find your dispensary under the LISTINGS tab, and click EDIT next to your listing.

  2. Go to the TAXES tab.

  3. If they’re not already enabled, click the Enable Taxes slider.

  4. Click the ADD TAX button.

  5. For each tax:

    1. Enter the Tax Name. This name will help you identify what each tax is. It will not appear on the consumer’s cart, checkout page, nor order confirmation.

    2. Enter the Tax Rate (%). For example, if you want to set a 10% tax, you’d enter “10” here, not “0.10”.

    3. Select the Tax Type – Excise or Sales.

    4. Select the Use Type this tax applies to – Adult Use, Medical Use, or Adult and Medical Use.

    5. Select each of the product categories this tax applies to.

  6. When you’re done, you can click PREVIEW to see how your configured taxes and delivery fees will be calculated across each category or just click SAVE if you’re ready.

NOTE: If your POS makes changes to taxes during checkout, those values will be presented to the consumer regardless of what’s calculated by the Weedmaps platform.

NOTE: Keep in mind that you – as the retailer, and not Weedmaps – are solely responsible for collecting all applicable taxes. The Weedmaps platform is only giving you an estimate.

SETTING UP DELIVERY FEES

Follow these steps to set up your delivery fees:

  1. Log into WM Admin, find your dispensary under the LISTINGS tab, and click EDIT next to your delivery listing.

  2. From the GENERAL tab, scroll down to the Delivery Profile section.

  3. Enter your Delivery Fee.

  4. Notice you can also set a minimum order amount and a delivery ETA in this section.

  5. When you’re done, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click SAVE.

Delivery fees will appear on your listing in the Delivery details box.

NOTE: If you have delivery fees, you can create a promo code for “free delivery” to attract new customers. Furthermore, you can restrict usage of the promo code to one use per customer.
