Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) is the monetary value of orders placed by consumers via Weedmaps. GMV is a good measure for demand that Weedmaps generates to your listing; thus the higher the GMV, the better.
Calculation
Computed at the order-item level through the sum of Price
x Units
. Includes all demanded merchandise that went through, even orders that were canceled or failed afterwards. Since it is calculated at the order-item level (read as subtotal), it doesn't include taxes, fees, or discounts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my GMV different?
What is different? The Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) definition doesn’t take into account taxes, fees, or discounts. In other reporting venues, your GMV was computed after taxes, fees, and discounts, which is typically a higher figure.
Why do that? By calculating GMV using the order item subtotal (Price
x Units
), we can provide useful breakdowns related to your orders. For instance, it enables reporting top selling categories and the percentage that represents of the total GMV.
What if I want to view GMV with taxes, fees, and discounts? All your orders data is available in the reports. In the Orders report, the Subtotal column represents the results before taxes, fees, and discounts; while the Total column shows the after taxes, fees, and discounts.
