What is an online deal?

An online deal is a promotion customers can quickly redeem at checkout on Weedmaps. Online deals are linked to promo codes to allow the discount to be applied to a customer’s cart.

Why set up an online deal instead of an in-store deal?

  • Online deals are surfaced in more places throughout the Weedmaps user experience than in-store deals.

WM Orders needs to be enabled to offer promo codes. If you're not WM Orders enabled, please see our article on enabling orders. An online deal is a promotion customers can quickly redeem at checkout on Weedmaps.

Online deals are linked to promo codes to allow the discount to be applied to a customer’s cart.

Creating an online deal

1. Log in to access your WM Admin account.

2. Select the Deals tab from the left navigation menu and click Overview.

3. Click + Promotion in the top right corner.

4. To create a deal, click the Create a deal card button.

5. Here you'll choose how you want customers to redeem this deal (in-store or online). To create an online deal, click the Create online deal button.

6. Click the +Listings button to select the listing(s) this deal will apply to. You can choose to make this deal available for one listing or multiple listings.

7. Here you have the option to create a new promo code or select an existing promo code to apply to your online deal.

7.1 Create a new promo code: input the promo code text customers will input to apply the promo code (e.g. FLOWER30) then hit Enter on your keyboard.

7.2 Select an existing promo code: click the Promo code field (this should be empty). You will see a dropdown with a list of existing promo codes. Select the promo code you want to apply to your online deal.

NOTE: If you select an existing promo code, all promo code requirements from the existing promo code will be automatically applied to your online deal.

8. Add deal details including title, description, and image to make your deal stand out from the competition.

  • Title: The title is limited to 32 characters and should showcase discounts such as "20% OFF EDIBLES".

  • Description: The description is limited to 500 characters and should contain discount details, restrictions (if any), and a call-to-action to incentivize a purchase.

  • Image: Click the Select image button. Then click Upload image button to add a new image or select from a previously used image below.

NOTE: The recommended image size is 1600px x 900px (16:9 aspect ratio). You'll be able to crop images that are too large or have a different aspect ratio.

9. Select the Promotion type you want to promote on this deal.

NOTE: If you selected an existing promo code for your online deal, the promotion type set on the existing promotion will automatically default to apply to your online deal. Not all promotion types are permitted in all states. You are responsible for conforming to advertising and promotions restrictions applicable to you.

  • Storewide: Offer a percentage or dollar amount off your customers' entire cart.

  • Products, brands, and category discount: Offer a discount on a specific set of

    products, brand(s) or category(s)

  • Buy X get Y: If a minimum quantity or purchase amount of a product, category, or brand is met, offer a percentage or dollar amount off. Additional options will appear to select the minimum threshold to meet, which product(s), brand(s), or category it applies to, and what the customer gets.

    • EXAMPLE: "Buy three edibles, get $10 off your entire order."

  • Flower weight round-up: Use this promotion type to round up certain units of measurement. For example, if you want to offer five grams for the price of an eighth this is the deal type you will want to select.

  • Other: Use this deal type if your deal doesn't fall into one of the previous buckets. You'll want to ensure that your deal title, description, and image clearly explain the promotion to potential customers.

10. In the Set Requirements section, you will customize your promotion requirements. The options available will differ based on the Promotion type you selected in the previous step.

Below is a list of possible requirements:

  • Applicable Products, Brands, or Categories that the customer must purchase to apply the promo.

  • The discount/reward the customer will receive if they meet the conditions defined (dollar amount off subtotal, percentage amount off subtotal, or dollar/percentage off specific products).

  • You can limit how many times a customer can use the promotion, and how many times it can be applied:

    • To avoid the risk of overuse, select Limit number of times this promotion can be used in total or Limit to one use per customer.

11. Select the dates your online deal promo code will be active and available for customers to view and apply at checkout.

  • Select Indefinitely (promo code does not expire and will start today)to set your promotion to always-on without an end date. Keep in mind, that this promo code will be set live immediately after you confirm and save in the next step.

  • Select I prefer to set a start and end date to set specific start and dates for your promo code.

    • Every day: You can make your promo code available daily within the start and end dates.

    • Select days: Select which days of the week you would like this promo code to be available within the set start and end dates. This makes it easier to run recurring promo codes without manually scheduling promo codes weekly.

12. Click Proceed to final review button.

13. Click Confirm and schedule button.

NOTE: Your online deal is not scheduled yet. The schedule above represents when the promo code is redeemable in cart.

To tie this promo code to your online deal, you will need to schedule the deal through the Deals Scheduler page. To schedule your deal, click Confirm and Schedule after completing the final review.
