Shoppers on Weedmaps have the option to receive updates about the status of their orders through SMS messages (texts) and push notifications.
Cannabis-related SMS content has been heavily scrutinized by telecommunications service providers, and some shoppers have reported that their SMS messages do not contain all the info they need to transact smoothly with retailers. Additionally, some customers have reported that all SMS messages from Weedmaps have been blocked by their service provider.
Push notifications avoid some carrier-specific SMS restrictions that may cause some shoppers to not receive order status texts.
We currently provide the following updates for orderers:
Order placed
Preparing (pickup)
Ready for pickup
Delivery has started
Delivery is near to your destination (less than one mile)
Completed
Cancelled
Shoppers can only receive push notifications if they have downloaded the Weedmaps app. Order status push notifications will pop-up on their lock screen even if they don’t have the app opened.
