Step-by-step guide to assigning single or batched delivery orders to drivers in Weedmaps Admin, managing active delivery routes, and optimizing dispatch workflows for faster fulfillment.

Written by Weedmaps Onboarding

Overview

Efficient route assignment streamlines delivery logistics, lowers transit times, and ensures accurate delivery tracking for customers. In Weedmaps Admin, dispatchers can quickly organize incoming orders, review fulfillment details, and assign individual or multiple orders to active drivers before they head out on the road.

Prerequisites Before Assigning Routes

  • Active Driver Account
Ensure the driver has been added under the DRIVERS tab in Weedmaps Admin and has successfully logged into the WM Driver App.

  • Order Status
Orders should be reviewed, verified, and packed/staged prior to assigning them to an active route.

How to Assign a Driver to a Delivery Route

Follow these steps to assign orders to your preferred driver:

  1. Access your account at Weedmaps Admin.

  2. Click Orders on the left-hand navigation menu and select Delivery from the dropdown options.

  3. Browse your active delivery list and click on the order you wish to assign.

  4. Confirm the customer’s delivery address, time window, items, and any special delivery instructions. Make any required last-second edits to the order.

  5. Open the driver selection dropdown, choose your preferred active driver, and save the assignment.

Tip: You can modify order details, reassign drivers, or adjust route order up until the driver officially starts the route in the WM Driver App.

Best Practices for Dispatch Efficiency

  • Group by Delivery Zone
Cluster orders located in the same geographic neighborhood or ZIP code onto a single driver's route to cut down on drive time and fuel costs.

  • Monitor Driver Capacity & Compliance
Ensure batched routes stay within state and local cannabis delivery regulations regarding maximum order limits or total inventory value per vehicle.

  • Reassign on the Fly
If a driver experiences delays or vehicle trouble, reassign any unstarted orders to an available driver directly from the Delivery Orders dashboard to keep deliveries on schedule.
