Managing a multi-item cannabis product catalog on Weedmaps Admin is fastest using the CSV Import Tool. This guide details how to structure product data, execute bulk updates, and avoid duplicate catalog listings.

Download & Prepare the CSV Import Template

To ensure your file formats correctly, always download the latest CSV template directly from your brand admin account:

  1. Log into your Weedmaps Admin listing.

  2. Navigate to the Product Management tab.

  3. Click Import CSV.

  4. Select Download Template.

Bulk Creating New Products

  1. Leave Product ID Empty: Leaving the Product ID cell blank signals Weedmaps to generate a new master product entry. Entering arbitrary text here causes import failures.

  2. Upload & Mapping: Navigate to Admin > Product Management > Import > New Import. Select your .csv file and verify that header columns map accurately to standard Weedmaps fields.

  3. Processing: Click Start Import. The system indexes listing details and fetches external image URLs in the background.

Bulk Editing Existing Products

⚠️ IMPORTANT: To update existing catalog items and avoid creating duplicate listings, your CSV must include the Weedmaps Product ID for every row you wish to edit.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Product Management.

  2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to Add Products.

  3. Select Export All Products to download your current product list containing all generated Weedmaps Product IDs.

  4. Open the exported .csv file, modify the necessary fields (e.g., MSRP, THC %, Description), and save.

  5. Go to Import > New Import, select your updated CSV file, and run the import.

To verify processed imports, view error reports, or monitor file uploads across all statuses:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Product Management.

  2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to Add Products.

  3. Select View All Imports.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Why are my product images failing to process or render?

    Weedmaps requires direct, publicly accessible raw image URLs ending in standard image extensions (.jpg, .png). Links requiring user authentication or viewing permissions (such as restricted Google Drive or Dropbox preview links) will fail to load.

  • How do I prevent generating duplicate product listings?

    Always include the exact Weedmaps Product ID when modifying existing items. Export your current master catalog using Export All Products to retrieve these system IDs. Leaving the Product ID field blank triggers the system to create a brand-new listing.

  • Why did numerical fields like THC % or MSRP trigger import errors?

    Numerical fields require raw digits only. Remove currency symbols ($), percentage signs (%), unit labels (mg, g), or special characters. For example, enter 25.00 instead of $25.00 and 18.5 instead of 18.5%.

  • Can I delete or archive products using a CSV import?

    No. The CSV import tool only creates or updates catalog items. To delete or archive discontinued items, go to Admin > Product Management, locate the product, and select Archive manually.

  • Will updating my brand catalog automatically change pricing on dispensary menus?

    Updates to your master brand catalog standardize product descriptions, genetics, and imagery across Weedmaps. However, individual dispensary retail pricing and stock levels are controlled separately by retailers through their point-of-sale (POS) integrations or local admin settings.
