How to integrate with MJ Freeway

Weedmaps offers two different POS integrations with MJ Freeway:

Live Menu Integration: Weedmaps will periodically crawl your POS menu to keep your Weedmaps menu synced

Order Integration: If a customer places an order on Weedmaps, the order will automatically be sent to your POS for fulfillment

How to set up a Live Menu integration with MJ Freeway

It's now simpler than ever to connect your point-of-sale (POS) data with Weedmaps for WM Integration. This new integration takes just a few steps to set up and after a few minutes, your POS data will be synced with your Weedmaps menu, allowing for more accurate menus right away.


​What does this mean?

  • More accurate menus with less to manage — The integration “crawls” your entire POS menu to check for any recent changes at regularly scheduled intervals (approximately every few minutes). If changes are detected, your Weedmaps menu is updated accordingly, ensuring your Weedmaps menu is accurate and updated in near real time.

  • Higher quality menus over time — We've built automation and curation tools that work to improve your menu and product quality over time. If your menu items are missing key information, such as product images or descriptions, those missing details are supplemented from our Weedmaps master catalog.

  • More options to manage your menus — The integration runs automatically, but we've also made it simpler for you to manage your menu manually. You can edit your Weedmaps menu from your POS channel as well as the Weedmaps Admin panel, allowing you to customize promotions and offerings for each channel.

Setting Up Your Menu Integration

Before getting started, let both your Weedmaps representative and your POS representative know that you want to set up an integration. Make sure to follow all the necessary steps provided by your POS as well as Weedmaps.

This process requires you to provide the API keys issued from MJ Freeway. For instructions on how to request your API keys, see How to receive API credentials for Weedmaps integration for MJ Platform.

NOTE: If you already have an integration in place, you'll need to disconnect it first. Follow these steps:

  1. From WM Admin, find your business from the Listings page and click EDIT.

  2. Go to the MENU tab.

  3. Click POS Integrated.

  4. Click Disconnect.

  5. Confirm that you want to disconnect your existing integration.

  6. You may need to refresh the page to make sure it's disconnected.

Once disconnected, you'll be able to follow the remaining steps to set up a new integration.

  1. Log in to your Weedmaps Admin account.

  2. Choose the business you want to integrate with your POS.

  3. From your Admin dashboard, select Menu.

  4. Select POS Integration.

  5. From the Select Your POS System drop-down, choose MJ Platform.

  6. Enter the below information for each field.

    1. API Key (required)

    2. Facility ID (medical) (required for medical facilities)

    3. Facility ID (recreational) (required for adult-use facilities)

    4. Organization ID (required)

    5. User ID (required)

  7. Select Save.

Congratulations! Within minutes, your menu data becomes available on Weedmaps.

At this point, review any instructions from your MJ Freeway representative regarding any additional steps you may need to take in order to complete your integration.

NOTE: If your integration has completed its initial sync, and you notice that products that were previously listed as branded/verified products no longer display the blue checkmark indicating that the brand has confirmed you’re authorized, you may need to re-verify those menu items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which POS providers support this type of integration?
As of March 2021, MJ Freeway is the only POS provider with this type of integration.

When will this integration become available for other POS providers?
Weedmaps is working to onboard other POS partners. More to be announced soon.

Can this integration be used for hybrid listing menus with both medical and recreational items?
As of March 2021, menus have to be set as either medical or recreational only. In the near future, Weedmaps will support combined med/rec menus for hybrid listings.

After the initial setup is complete, how do I know the integration is working correctly?
While logged in to your Weedmaps Admin account, you can view the Sync Activity. This is where you can confirm whether or not there were any issues with your credentials or the overall setup process. The Sync Activity page is also where you can view the number of menu items that have been "crawled" as well as the number of new items added to your Weedmaps menu from MJ Freeway. This is the same page where you are alerted of any errors or issues regarding the sync activity.

Can I uninstall or pause this type of integration?
Yes, you can disconnect the integration if needed.

If I make changes to my menu via Weedmaps Admin panel, are those updates also reflected on my POS?
No. Any changes made to your menu via Weedmaps Admin panel only modify your Weedmaps menu, not your POS menu.

Do the product photos added via MJ Freeway carry over to my Weedmaps menu?
Yes, the product photos in MJ Freeway carry over into your Weedmaps menu.

When connecting my Weedmaps menu with MJ Freeway, is there any downtime?
Downtime is to be expected, but it is minimal. It takes only a few minutes for your MJ Freeway menu to load on Weedmaps. For larger menus, the downtime can take a bit longer (up to 10 minutes).

How to setup an order integration with MJ Freeway

You must have the following features enabled for a successful Orders integration setup:

  • At a minimum, a Basic Listing account with Weedmaps.

  • WM Orders enabled.

  • WM Integration via Weedmaps Crawler API.

  • An account with MJ Freeway.
